Left Behind…

I have been getting fed up with being late all the time when I need to get the kids I pick up after school to an activity. They are are so slow getting ready to go. I give them so much time, to get ready, I give them a countdown (starting with 20 minutes). We (they) are always late, no matter what! I talked to a “seasoned parent” about this frustration, he gave me some advice- leave them. If they miss an activity that they like then hopefully they will be ready on time…
So, today I left the older kid (almost 10). The 7 year old was ready on time, so at 3:00 the two of us left. We drove around the block and came back. Boy, was he pissed.
We’ll see on Tuesday if we are late again…

  1. we’ll see. my parents did that to me once and it scarred me for life. might even the root of my fear of abandonment. plus, i don’t think it did any good.

  2. But were you ever late again, or possibly counter-react by always being late…
Yay, it’s psychoanalysis day! Maybe we should all conspire to not comment on your blog for a few days without telling you, just to see if that fear of abandonment plays out in the virtual world…
