feed the birds

making the bird feeder

A form of recycling. This was pretty easy for the kids to make. Very messy though, do it outside and have a lot of wipes for your hands!!

Avery collected this big pinecone from just outside our house. I tied a long piece of yarn around the top of the pine cone. Then she slathered p-nut butter all over it (I had to help with this, it got tedious) and “decorated” it with raisins, bird seed and stale Cheerios.

Avery hung it up in the tree in our backyard. We have already seen a few birds!! Enjoy birdies!

7 months

We introduced carrots & green beans this month. No problem, he liked them just fine. In more exciting news- Avery is eating a few bites of carrots too!! Peer pressure, I guess!!

Since last month, he starting to crawl. I’m not too excited… He started out up on all fours, moving his legs, but not his arms so he fell on his face! Now he is moving a bit more smoothly. He is now very “mobile” and all over the place.

Avery & Sawyer took their first bath together. Avery was very excited about this, which was short lived. He didn’t play with her and he took up a lot of room in her tub!

Sawyer went on his first camping expedition. He actually didn’t stay the night outside (Sawyer and I drover home each night) but he did hang out at the campsite and liked nature- for the most part!

We finally moved him to a “real” car seat. Avery likes that he is higher up now and it’s easier for her to hold his hand. He hasn’t been able to nap too well in it yet, but he is adjusting. Yes, he is riding backwards!!

camping

Camerons go camping

Camerons go camping

We went camping at Sycamore Canyon (off Highway 1). Sawyer and I drove home each night and came back in the morning. It was WAY cold at night and I wasn’t totally sure he would sleep through the night (which he didn’t!).

Avery loved it. She got to roast marshmallows (that she wouldn’t eat so Dan and I had to!), roast/cook a hotdog over the fire (that she did eat!), sleep in a tent and use her ballerina sleeping bag. She is ready to go again.

go green

Get ready, St. Patrick’s Day is coming up.

This was a pretty easy craft. Avery did most of it on her own. I gave her cut up tissue paper, a paint brush and a mix (even amounts) of water & “drippy” glue. She painted a section, put on the tissue paper and then painted again. When it dried we punched a hole in the top, used yarn and hung it in the window.

warm milk?

To the moms & dads who warm up their kids milk:

When did you start doing this? How old are our kids now? When are you going to stop? What happens when you are out- at a restaurant or friends house? No milk since it’s cold?

I honestly had never heard of such a thing or even thought about heating up my kids milk, unless we were making hot chocolate.

Do they like warm water too? j/k

how tall?

HERE is a web sight that will predict how tall your kid will be.

It predicts that at age 18 Avery will be 5 feet 10 inches tall. Volleyball? Basketball? Golf? Dan would love that!
