food- give it up

I’ve been trying to introduce rice cereal to Sawyer. The doctor said as early as 4 months but by 6 months. So when we got back from our trip to the cold, and we got back on somewhat of a routine I gave him some cereal. I was prepared- bib, spoon for him to hold, bowl, rice cereal and spoon to feed him with. Avery took to the cereal the first time so he should too, right?

Yeah right! I tried every other day and he didn’t make any progress in the “solid” foods department. A few moms suggested trying veggies first, but I don’t think it’s the flavor (if there is any) it’s that he doesn’t know what to do with the stuff. He gags on it and if some does get down his gullet, he seems to regurgitate it anyways!

Sawyer and the cereal

HERE is his new thing- all day long. We thought the drooling was bad before, then he began on the raspberries!

He’ll be 6 months in two weeks and I don’t see any progress with this food stuff. One mom told me her son wasn’t interested in food till 8 or 9 months! Sawyer, mama is ready to go out for more than an hour at a time- eat up son!!

the girl has morals

We went to Taco Bell and Avery asked for some lemonade. I told her that I we were getting water, since I didn’t pay for lemonade… she seemed satisfied with that. We got our stuff and sat down, then I had to go fill up our water cups. I decided to put some lemonade in her cup anyway- she usually gets is watered down anyway. I brought it to her and she refused to drink it. She told me we didn’t pay for it and she wouldn’t drink it! I told her I would dump it out then… “yes, please, dump it out and get water.” So I did just that!

Avery went to Awana’s where they give the kids a snack- not the greatest snacks either. One time I asked what she’d had and she told me it was “popcorn from the microwave, the kind with yellow stuff on it and a marshmallow.” Hmmm… not too healthy at 7:00 at night! On this night, I asked her again what she’d had for snack- it was graham crackers and a chocolate chip cookie. But she told the teacher she couldn’t have the cookie, because I (her mom) didn’t want her to! I never told her she couldn’t have a cookie at Awana’s! But we have been talking about making healthy food choices so maybe that’s where she got it from. She loves chocolate chip cookies, I can’t believe she didn’t take it!

5 months

Sawyer is 5 months

Sawyer is 5 months

Sawyer is 5 months old now. He is rolling over, drooling all over the place (no teeth yet) and laughing a lot. He is not into eating any cereal yet. If he gets any in his tummy he just regurgitates it- kind of gross! He seems to just gag on it. He is somewhat sleeping through the night now. He sleeps till about 5am, eats, then back to sleep till 7:30. Love that he is sleeping that late. Avery still loves him a lot. She loves to hold his hand when we’re in the car and kisses him all the time.

I still think they look a little but a like.

loser

So I am back at it. I am in a biggest loser competition. I need to lose all this “baby fat.” I am tired of looking at all those clothes in my closet collecting dust.

It has been one week  and so far so good. I haven’t been able to work out yet (Dan, set up the Wii again please!) but I have been pretty good with food. I haven’t bent yet! My “problem” area is sweets. I loves me some desserts!! I am counting calories and trying to drink a lot of water. Any great recipes or advice- bring it, please!

I haven’t had any soda- just water and bubble water.

We weigh in every other week- so no weigh in this week. I hope to have positive info next Wed evening…

There are 28 people in this comp.  Men & women, winner is by percentage lost not pounds lost.

1st place $350

2nd place $150

3rd place $60
