Mini golf

We went to Golf-n-Stuff this morning. Avery liked the golfing, she lasted through the 13th hole. Then we played a few games and got enough tickets to leave with two snakes. Sorry no pictures- thanks Dan!

Next time she would like to go with (her cousins) Jack & Josh.

When asked who lives in the castle, she said “little Einsteins and princesses.”

triathlete

I can now saw that I have completed my first (mini) triathlon. It was very fun and would love to do it again- next year! It was benifitting the end of human trafficking.
Swimming- I kicked their butts

Biking- did ok for someone who doesn’t bike, but my butt hurt

Running- killed me. I would rather give birth than run.

But we (Jared, Dan and I) all finished and no last.

car trip

We recently took a car trip- 5 hours, no AC over the Grapevine… a hot and loud trip.

Dan got his new iphone just before we left and was able to put some of Avery’s movies on it (download?). She liked the head phones and since we had to have the windows down is worked out really well.

P.S. I know this picture is not of the iphone, but the “old” ipod.

Now every time we get into the car she asks for her movie on the phone!

Hume Lake

We went to Hume Lake for a few days. We were able to stay at my aunt’s cabin. I used to go up there for camps starting in third grade through high school in the summer. Dan and I went up there before we were married and this was Avery’s first trip.

We hiked up the “waterfall” at Sandy Cove. Since the water was so low we were able to hike up pretty far.
Avery has been attached to these plastic frogs and her frog box for a while now. When we saw the real fish, frogs and even a giant ant, she did not like it. She thought the frogs and ants were “chasing” her and wanted to run away. “Frog coming…”

We drove to see the “big trees.” They are pretty massive!

We brought too much food and too many clothes.

The best part was that we spend 4 days with no internet, computers, TV… together and the worst part was that the ac broke before we even got to Fillmore.

tantine

Just got the news today that Tantine died. This was my “other mom” who watched me during the day when my parents were at work from birth (I was born at the end of July and school started in August) till I went to Kindergarten. I would go with them on weekends and for a week in the summer to their “country house” on the farm. She only spoke French, and never understood our strange American ways- especially Halloween! Au revoir Tantine.

Odyssey of the Mind

When I was in middle school I was a part of a team for Odyssey of the Mind. It’s a team of 7 people- 5 do an original performance and 5 do a spontaneous (creative) answer thing.  I was on the team for 3 years and went to World Finals twice. Very fun!

Anyway, just got into contact with one of the members (thank you facebook)and he mentioned he had some video clips. He just put them on youtube. They are a little long, and boring since you don’t know the people, but hilarious to watch.

Video one

Video two At the end is the bit from “SHAPE Community Update” the local news.
Can you figure out which one is me??
