Hapy Birthday- again

Since we were all in Palm Springs together we celebrated Avery’s birthday- again. We went to Chuck E Cheese. This was a remodeled one, and it was fancy. There was a stage with a “green screen” for the birthday parties, there was DJ booth with Chuck spinning some tunes and little TVs for the kids to “edit” the music videos.

We had a coupon for pizza, drinks and 100 tokens. Yes, they still use tokens there. I definitely like the tokens better than the card. 100 tokens kept 3 kids busy for 2 hours!

slide

While in Palm Springs Avery discovered how fun a water slide can be. At first she was hesitant but then figured out it was more fun to go alone. Then she just went round and round on the slide, until I made her stop because her eyes were so red from the chlorine.

As you can see the slide was pretty slow sometimes. Some kids were practically walking down it…

Notice the ginormously pregnant lady waiting at the bottom of the slide. She was waiting for her two boys, ages 4 and 2 (almost 3) to come down. She was due in three weeks! She has her hands full.

spa

We are in Palm Springs for a week to relax in the HEAT. It is so friggin’ HOT here. It is hottest at about 5pm- over 100 everyday we’ve been here. So hot you have to wear shoes to and from the pool, and if you are planning on getting out of the pool to get a drink or a new towel, you have to wear shoes too. Can’t sit by the pool to read or play scrabble, it’s just too hot!

We are staying at a “Resort & Spa” so I thought “wouldn’t be nice to actually use the spa this year..” I called and they do not do any waxing, manicures or pedicures! What kind of a spa is that?? They only do wraps, facials, massages… expensive stuff like that.

Wildlife Rescue

Avery and I were leaving the Toys R Us shopping center by Bennett’s when we saw a guy in the middle of the parking lot, telling cars to go slower… weird, but I slowed down. There was a mama duck with about 12 duckling following very close behind her. The guy saw the ducks crossing Johnson Drive- I can’t believe they made it. He wanted to catch the mother duck and put in a box he had in his car… then what? I was about to suggest that someone call Animal Control or some organization to help them ducks. Then… a young hippy looking guy was heading to the bike shop, he came over- he is a Wildlife Rescue person!

He knew who to get the ducks where they belong. He thought they came from the barranca and their water had dried up. Not sure where they took the ducks, but I am glad they were taken before the guy with box got to them!! Avery did get to pet one of the duckings- she talked about the ducks ALL DAY LONG!! I didn’t have my camera… the one time!!
