Ventura Aquatic Center

Originally uploaded by Sara_Cameron.

We went to the new Aquatic Center this afternoon. It was the grand opening today, but we went too late for all the hoopla. It was a bit windy but we all had fun and got wet.
It was a little crowded, but what do you expect with a new attraction? We went to the 4.5 foot pool for most of the time. The water was 84 degrees (2 degrees warmer than the VC Pool!). Avery had a great time till she got water up her nose. She was not happy about that!
My overall analysis of the aquatic center is that it’s a great place, totally needed by Ventura. The locker rooms sucked big time. I’ve spent a lot of time in many locker rooms in my life, so I know what I like. Too many toilets and not enough room to change. If you go into the locker room to go pee, you see all the people that are showering! Weird to me. There are not enough benches to set your stuff on when changing. There are no long-term lockers, so if you were to go swimming a few times a week, you have to bring all your shower stuff with you- a real pain in the behind! The showers are not so great either. The water pressure is good but the water comes out in one strong stream, OK for adults, but a little difficult for the kids- not just my kid, but the kids in there today couldn’t get the shampoo out of their hair!
I have been twice now to this new joint. I know we’ll be going a lot over the next few years. We live close enough to walk, which is a big plus.
We paid some moula for our names to go on the “Athletic Donor” wall. It says “Dan, Sara & Avery Cameron.” Check it out when you go by there.
Did anyone else have the chance to go check out this new attraction in the beautiful city of Ventura?

On the Plane

We took a short trip to Washington to visit my sister’s family last week. We ended up with a row of three seats on the plane ride there. That worked out well, once we were in the air Avery went to sleep in the seat between us for almost the whole flight.
We had a lot of fun visiting. We went to Crystal Lake, played some games and just hung out. Dan went fishing with my brother-in-law jim, he caught a fish and then we ate it!
Avery had never met her cousins Jack (4) and Josh (2) or her aunt & uncle. The plane ride back was not so great. Dan will have to write about that himself… it’s a tale! I closed my eyes and listened to musics. Glad were home now.m

If She Had Hair…

I decided to get into the festive season and get out my halloween/harvest box. I forgot about all the crap I bought in years past to “decorate” with. So I set out some of the crap, then I came across the costumes we’ve kept and at the bottom were the wigs… I love wigs. They are so much fun. Avery was eyeing them as I deciding whether to keep them out or not. I had to see how they looked on her. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. So, what kind of hair do you think Avery looks best in? If anyone who has a bald baby would like to borrow the wigs just let me know.

5 Months

Avery is 5 months old now. I can hardly believe it. She is growing too fast. I sound like one of those crazy moms… don’t say it. An update on what she can do now- the list isn’t too long! She loves to play with the bugs that hang down from her carseat. Even when I put the bar back she reaches behind her to get them. She is eating really well- Dan loves those diapers! She is laughing, smiling and making “air spitting”noises with her mouth. She will also “air spit” on our arms, which is pretty funny. Overall she is a wonderful baby- we can’t complain. Just look at her!

Food Glorious Food

Avery is now eating some “solid” foods. She seems to like all the food we have offered her so far. She likes her veggies- which is good because I don’t like any veggies, except corn and potatoes. We have a few more veggies to get through then onto fruits, then mixed fruits, then MEAT. Hmmm, sounds so yummy!
Avery is also now able to hold her bottle by herself if she is laying down.
