Here is the situation- you bought some snow boots, used them only a few times (when it snows, not so much). The last time you wore them you got a rash on the back of your ankle. This is the first time you’ve had a problem with them. Do you try to return the boots even though you have worn them a half dozen times over the last few years?

No way. That's too long. I think that would be stealing. They wouldn't get their money back on the boots.

My BIL did return them and did his $ back in a store gift card! I couldn't believe it!
What I meant was that the store wouldn't make their money back. Did he tell them the whole story and what store was it?
Even better- we bought the boots (the 4 of us) at the same time, three years ago. We can't remember what we paid, but we think about $40 per pair. They got a gift card for $63.xx to REI.
