Yesterday Avery was telling me about a “school of birds…” I corrected her and gave her a few examples of other fun names for animal groups – come to find out they are called collective nouns. But I didn’t know that many. Today Sawyer and I went to the library, so I asked the librarian if she knew of any books that are about collective nouns. She found one called, “A Crash of Rhinos, A Party of Jays.” Perfect, just what I was looking for.
This afternoon Avery got an award at school, as a reward each kid gets to pick out a new book. Out of all the books on the table she picked out “A Cache of Jewels & Other Collective Nouns.” I think she just liked all the jewels on the cover. It’s even better than the first book because it’s not all animals but things too.
