We’ve been reading fables to Avery. Fables are old stories that are about animals who act as humans (they talk). At the end of each fable there is a moral, or life lesson.
The first one we read was The Dog & His Shadow by Aesop. Moral- If you are greedy, you may lose everything. This one she got right away and was able to retell me the story and after I made up a story with the same moral she was able to do the same.
The next one was The Lion & the Mouse, moral- Little friends may be great friends.
The Hare & the Tortoise, moral-slow and steady wins the race. Being the most talented doesn’t always mean you’ll come out on top. Hard, steady work is very important, too.
The Grasshopper & the Ants.
I got a movie off Netflix called, Aesop’s Fables: Animated Moral Stories. It had a bunch of fables to watch. It was…. how to describe it? It was made in India and the narrator was from India too. Avery had a hard time understanding some of the words. So that didn’t work out as I’d hoped.
