No Picture ID

I have done it again- my wallet is gone! I had it, and now it’s gone. I think I lost it (or someone took it) between the car and visiting a friend at her office downtown. I have called and cancelled and replaced… but now I have no picture ID and we are supposed to fly on December 22nd. YIKES. I am in search of my passport…
Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get a photo ID pronto? HELP!

    That sucks! Contact the airline and see if just a simple card with your picture on it, along with your birth certificate, interim driver’s license (the piece of paper you get when you apply for a replacement at the DMV), marriage certificate, and/or social security card, will be okay to use to get on the plane. If so, you can go to your bank and have them take your picture and send you a new debit card with your picture on it.
    I don’t think that you are, but if you would be taking classes at VC, you could get a student id card with a picture on it.

    The first one was not my fault- it was yours! I will only claim the first one. I am looking at the websight Kristi suggested. It didn’t ask me for my SSN or anything- scary!

    It was not my fault, how could it I don’t use your purse. I was just the last one to see it, we think.

    I saw your passport, we should be able to find that.

    A passport should be fine, if you’ve got a current one. If you don’t want to go the online route, most international airports (like LAX) have govt. places nearby where you can go and submit a form one day and pick up a passport either the next or the day after, if you don’t want to take the chance on getting one mailed to you, which you may not want to risk considering the time of year.

    Actually, now that I think about it, that may have changed post-9/11; I am thinking back to when we went to Sweden (when we lived in Hawaii); my passport was still current, but there were like 8 others who either needed renewals or new ones like within a week, and they all got them doing it this way.

    I checked the place online, and all they asked for was my name, address & DOB and of coarse my $$. No SSN, no “other” names, nothing! Weird, don’tchya think?

    I forgot to add that I went to DMV on Friday. Their policy is to tell you that is could take up to 60 days to receive your new DL. The only way I could get an interim paper with a picture to take the test for a new type of license, like getting a motorcycle license. The lady at DMV seemed to think this was a great idea, no problem! I have no idea about motorcycle rules and I would have to take a driving test! Not very practicle. I am still in search of my passport. It has to be here somewhere…

    If DMV is so slow reissuing DL’s, what are you supposed to do about driving in the interim? Look for your PP. Keep us posted. The photo ID the TSA requires has to be issued by some governmental agency, I.E. DL, PP, School ID (?).

    I can’t remember how but I flew without my DL about a year ago. I think I had the paper saying they had just reissued it. I mean really…can they flat turn you down? It’s not like Sara fits the terrorist profile. Not that I support profiling or anything. I don’t think you are going to have a problem. Have a couple credit cards, etc…you’ll be fine.
